Annecy is one of the easiest destinations in France for family cycling. The greenway runs along the lake on a flat, wide, car-free path: children ride safely, parents truly enjoy it.
Car-free
The greenway is entirely separated from the road: zero traffic stress for the youngest.
Swim stops
Beaches, playgrounds and ice-cream stands dot the route — the breaks are part of the fun.

No elevation on the greenway: even little legs go the distance.

📍 The right route by age
No need to aim for the full 40 km loop! With young children, best is a there-and-back on the greenway: from Annecy to Sevrier (~5 km) or Saint-Jorioz (~9 km), then back, with a beach stop. Older kids who ride well will enjoy 15-20 km. And in a trailer or on an e-bike, parents can complete the whole loop.
🚲 The right bike for each child
Babies travel in a seat or trailer (great for naps and beach gear). A child who can't pedal far enough follows on a tag-along. As soon as they ride solo, we fit them with a bike to their size. For parents, an e-bike makes towing a trailer easy. We advise by age and height — see all family gear.

The Bout du Lac nature reserve, Doussard
At the south end, where the greenway ends: a protected nature reserve, shaded trails and a wild beach. A little paradise for a nature break with family.
Angon beach, Talloires
On the eastern shore, a pretty beach right next to our canyoning base. Turquoise water and a preserved setting: the ideal swim stop to reward the effort.

Can you cycle around the lake with children?
On the greenway yes, but for the youngest prefer a suitable there-and-back over the full 40 km. Seats and trailers let you go further.
What distance with children?
10 to 20 km return on the greenway for children who pedal; more in a trailer or on an e-bike for parents.
